NUMBER OF PLAYERS: Marjas is a game for pairs. There are also variants of Marjas for three and two players. NEEDED FOR THE GAME: A standard deck of cards, from which cards 2-5 are removed. This leaves 36 cards for play. (The removed small cards can be used for scoring) HOW TO PLAY: Cards are dealt equally to everyone. The game itself is a trick game, in which the player with the highest card wins the trick. These won cards are no longer used in the game, but later you get points for them. RULES: In each round, you must always play the same suit as the player who started the round. In addition, you must play with a higher card than the highest card played in that round so far. This is called beating. If there is no card of the same suit, you must always play with a trump card, if one is in play. Following the suit is a stronger rule than forcing beating, so you cannot use a trump card if the player has the original suit in hand. The obligation to beat also does not apply if the highest card so far has been played by the partner. TRUMP: A trump can only be played immediately after taking a trick. Then the player has the right to play a trump of the suit from which he has a king and a queen. It is also sufficient if a pair has two kings and a queen of the same suit, for this the player can ask the partner whether he has a half of a certain suit. If the partner answers in the affirmative, the trump is played. If the answer is negative, a new question cannot be asked about the halves of other suits, but must wait until they take a new trick. It is also allowed to ask for a whole instead of a half. Then it is not necessary to name the suit in the question, and if the partner has a queen and a king of the same suit, a trump can be played. In any case, when a trump is played, it must be of the same suit as the king and queen. Only one trump can be played in the game. The pair that has played a trump gets 2 points for it. MINOR TRUMP: After making a trump, you can also make minor trumps from other suits according to the same rules. Minor trumps do not affect the playing of tricks or the order of the cards' strength in any way. For each minor trump formed, a pair is awarded one point. MATCH: Tens and aces collected with trump cards can also give points. These cards are called mates. When the game is over, the pair with the most mates gets one point. If both pairs have the same number of mates, the one with the higher face cards gets points (Face cards give points as follows: king = 3 points, queen = 2 points, knight = 1 point). Face cards have no value other than in deciding who gets the mate point in the event of a tie. In such a case, if these points are also distributed equally, the mate point is postponed to the next game and then the winner gets 2 points at once. LAST TICKET: The pair that took the last trick also gets one point. WINNING: The game is won by the pair that first gets 12 points. However, the pair must get exactly 12 points, because if they accumulate more points, the pair's score drops to 7 points. THREE-BARRY: This is played like regular berry, but each player plays for himself. Since the cards are dealt to three, each player gets 12 cards. TWO-BARRY: The game is played as a three-player game and the cards are still dealt into three piles, one of which remains unused.

When will this game come to Vint.ee??

I think this year definitely not, if at all it is going to happen, it is harder to do it than a thousand, you have to chat more and ask if you have one half, etc. Meikop still needs to set up card game tournaments, BISM tournaments, etc. Another thing is how many people would play this game and want to play. For that, it needs to be put to a vote, etc. Meikop's answer would be that it won't happen this year....D

Yes, when bringing a new game to Vint, the number 1 question is: "Would this game bring new people to Vint?" How many people in Estonia know about Marja but not the other games in Vint (sasku, tuhat, podkidnoi)? I think it's minimal. Of the card games, we have the most popular games represented. Rather, the next game will be a non-card game. Scrabble or solving crosswords, for example. And those won't come to Vint this year either. First, we need to hold Bismarck tournaments, popularize Mindoku, etc. But I applaud the proposal/initiative!

You know, Meikop, I don't care anymore. What will or won't happen.
