Playing alone against the computer

We are moving towards the possibility of playing against the computer in some game rooms (if there is no one to invite to the game at the moment). The goal is to make this functionality the first in game rooms where there are generally not many people (Entropia, Lines Of Action, 4-Ritta). However, if we find (AI) source code (preferably JAVA) for some other game (Chess, Othello, Checkers), we can also add it immediately. Our users can be helpful here and guide us to the source code of some games. In games where we write the AI ourselves, we do not initially make the computer very smart - the goal of playing against the computer is primarily to learn the game (for beginners). We also do not initially make different difficulty levels. Example of entropy: The computer places a piece in a random place and, creating order, moves any piece so that the score does not decrease. Opinions are welcome!

This is a great direction to move in! :) Good luck and strength on this path! A good example of such a game portal is VOG. It seems that in almost all games there you can play against the computer, plus different levels of difficulty. I have played Entropy against the computer. A good opportunity for beginners to understand the idea of the game. However, playing against our own strong ones (e.g. fantunes, poffic, Puhh) is something else entirely. I guess no computer program can teach you to be that smart! ;)

I would recommend the following simple strategy for a program in entropy (significantly better than random moves): Order: the first 5 moves move the middlemost piece as far as possible, then score as much as possible with each move. Chaos: the first 5 moves move as far as possible to the middle, then move so that the next move does not get the maximum possible score. Of course, this is much more difficult to teach to a program than random moves - you have to teach it how to calculate points and move forward one move. But I'm afraid that playing with a program with completely random moves is very boring.

I wonder how you can register for VOG there? I couldn't find an option, just log in....I couldn't find a user to do it..

A really good idea, for example, I'm a member of Chess.com, and there, in addition to playing against people, you can also play chess against computers of different levels.

I clicked "Sign in" there. A page opens, with "Existing VOG player?" in green and "New... Sign up now..." in red on the left. Clicking on this link opens the registration form. You choose a username, add your e-mail and a password is sent there.

One of the entropy computers could still be a little more knowledgeable about chaos or order. It gives beginners an overview of the nature of the game, but it doesn't teach them how to play correctly. Chaos should hinder a little, not add, for example, the same color to a row where 5-6 are waiting.
