Checkers tournament in Bauska

On Friday, March 21, 2008, a checkers tournament was held in Bauska, Latvia, where four checkers from Estonia also participated. Algo Laidvee (Ruut)(5.5p/8) achieved a high third place, and Enno Eermal also did well, achieving 6th place(4.5/8). The remaining 2 Estonians, Andres Kuusk (fantunes) and Tiit Vunk (TiiT), also showed themselves to be strong and put up strong resistance to the local championship candidates. They took 18th and 17th places, respectively (3.5/8 and 4/8). A total of 24 checkers players participated in the tournament, including 9 champions. First place went to Martins Junkurents (6/8) and second place to Edia Novickis (5.5/8).
