Why can't you choose when you play against tough opponents?

Well, the thing is, I didn't break it :( But never mind :)

If the internet connection is lost during your opponent's move, you won't receive any new information from the server, and so you might get the impression that your connection wasn't lost (someone else's time ran out). In fact, the game continued, it was your turn, and your time ran out.
